"Apples are Delicious"
Every campaign has its slogans; “hope and change,” “yes we can,” “campaigning for freedom…”
Most of these slogans are great, many are inspiring, few are truthful, and far too many become lost promises. With any luck I’ll probably have a couple of catchy slogans myself. However, a slogan doesn’t make a politician great, their principals do. Running on a platform of not raising taxes is pointless if you start to do the opposite once you are elected. This is the problem with far too many politicians today.
It’s hard to summarize what you are about with only a few words. My purpose for running is to do what I can to return our country the freedom, liberty and prosperity that have been leached away with our current government. I am not entering this campaign as a politician looking for power and control. I am entering this campaign as a normal person looking to help normal people.
As you narrow your decision between me and my opponent please look at more than just the catch phrases he may be using. Please review his record to get an idea of exactly what kind of person he really is. I am seeking this office to replace what I feel is a politician that has lost his way and is not looking out for the best interests of our district or our country.
My stance on the issues is not a promise made to try and get into office. No one can be all things to all people, and I don’t expect everyone to agree with all my views. However, I point out how I feel about the issues so that you will know what to expect from me if I am fortunate enough to win my election.
Apples are delicious, and I stand by that. I don’t want to make light of campaigning for office, but in the big scheme of things I think this slogan makes just as much sense as “hope and change.” Both are somewhat arbitrary in what they say, and neither does much to describe what you can expect from a candidate.
If you would, please take a few moments to skim around my website and get an idea of where I stand on the issues. I would also like to encourage you to do the same with my opponent. Get an idea of who he is and where he stands on the issues. If it helps, eat an apple to help pass the time, but please make sure that the next time you vote you are doing so with the knowledge that will bring you the representation you deserve.
